M2-2 Flamethrower.

The flamethrower is a weapon that releases a stream of burning liquid, which can be directed against troops or strong points. The Germans first employed the flamethrower during the early days of WWI. The weapon consists of a backpack with a reservoir of compressed nitrogen and a tank containing flammable liquid such as kerosene or napalm. A hose ran from the fuel tank to a nozzle on which was an ignition device. On pressing the trigger, gas forced the liquid through the nozzle and at the same time ignited the fuel.

The British, French and American forces soon adopted the flamethrower. A terrifying weapon, its operator was exposed, and when assaulting a strongpoint, it was necessary to provide a squad for protection.
